During the month of December the boost to WonderfulMachine.com’s traffic continued thanks to Houston-based photographer Shannon O’Hara’s Pinterest images. Like in November, Shannon’s gingerbread houses images helped push Wonderful Machine’s Pinterest page to 1.03 million impressions, which is actually a 103% increase over the 498,910 impressions received in November (I don’t know about you but I’m going to go post some images of gingerbread cookies on my Pinterest feed!). For what it’s worth, Adam Ewing’s image for BFGoodrich (from 2013) received 12,058 impressions … only a little behind Shannon’s 900 thousand odd impressions.
These impressions translated into nearly 1,600 visitors to WonderfulMachine.com. As you can see below, although the lion’s share of traffic arrived from Pinterest, Facebook and LinkedIn were still more effective at directing traffic to our website than Instagram.
Our other social media platforms — including Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter — also continued to do work during December promoting the recent work of our member photographers.
Bay area-based photographer Rachid Dahnoun‘s video for Food & Wine magazine documenting the results of the California wildfires was by far the most popular post on our Facebook feed, reaching 776 people, receiving 33 likes and being shared 35 times. It was followed in popularity by the interest in Hoover, Alabama-based photographer Art Meripol‘s images of the Battle House Renaissance Mobile Hotel and Spa in Mobile, Alabama, reaching 229 users.
Rachid’s article was also popular on LinkedIn, but did not receive as many impressions asRaleigh, North Carolina-based photographer Bryan Regan‘s seasonally-themed work for Walter magazine.
On Instagram, the industry standard, our most popular images was from Kansas City, Missouri-based photographer Kenny Johnson’s takeover, his image of two dancers from the Kansas City Balley posted on December 13. It received 435 likes!
The second most popular image was Mount Pleasant, South Carolina-based photographer Chris Rogers’ elegant image of the shadows cast by glasses of spirits, liked by 345 viewers.
Last but not least, we have a new person taking over our social media program. Her name is Claudia Calderon, and she’s very excited about working with our member photographers.
Check back in February, when Claudia will talk about our newest social media iniatives and recent progress!
